Based on my experience the 73/74 under dash/firewall mounted items are not interchangeable with 71/72, the firewall is different.
Why do I drive that thing? 'Cause I want to.

I was looking at the vintage air as well and was thinking if I could find a 73-74 heater box with AC, then I could modernize the rest of the components...

Do you have any pics of the Vintage AC unit in your javelin? I'd like to see it. I've been thinking about Vintage air myself.

I didn't put it in. I had other things that I wanted to do that I felt were more important. I had talked with someone at Vintage Air at the Goodguys Nats last month and it didn't seem to hard to me to put the box in. I was more concerned about mounting the compressor but the guy knew a bit about AMC's and said to get an old compressor mount and there are adapters out to mount a new style compressor to it. I haven't ruled out putting it in but not this year. I did put cruise control in and love it! Big smile

Thanks for the info Keith.  I went to a couple of aftermarket air sites and it looks like the left (drivers side) control panel & vent should fit ok under the existing air/heat/fan control panel ok.
It will be a project later down the raod for my Donohue also, that is if I don't sell it first.
