Makes me want to redo the 360 in my 73........... or perhaps build by 401 for it. Everything I have would transfer over to the 401.. hmmmmmm
If I can get 390-400 hp out of the 360, wonder what's possible with the 401 on a budget.
Naw, need to get the suspension fixed first.....

Well with new heads and intake, there would hopefully not be sealing issues.
DO check the preload on the lifters when you put things together. With changes in head and so on, all bets are off as far as the pushrod length/preload, rocker arm to valve stem contact and such.
You have to go through everything from scratch and not assume.

running edelbrock push rods and harland sharp rockers  have double and triple checked pre load  that is how i found the second bad lifter harland recommends take up the slack between push rod  rocker and valve then 1/2 to 3/4 turn and lock into place

You have my commiseration. Maybe you are victim to Murphy's Law?

(Worth mentioning IMO: anyone dropped a valve lately? = don't use pn# VK174 (unhardened) only use pn# VK174R (hardened) 4G keepers on your stock AM 4G valves)

Sorry but, I didn't read this until now. I buy the Hylift lifters by the hundreds. I would have sold you just one.

On the other hand I have used the Federal Mogul lifters before with no issues. I believe that they are "assembled" in Mexico. I am not sure where the castings come from.
