But I would use copper coat on it

Spray both sides and let it tack up a bit

Don't do that around the intake ports unless you want a vacuum leak. RTV and fuel do not mix. Use aviation sealer or #2.

I've used Right Stuff and I've used the ultra on mine - nary a problem.

By the way, I'm running two engines with Comp sets - cam and lifters. One has over 30K and the other about 10K miles. The lifters are working fine.
How do I know they are fine? I got paranoid on the 390 and pulled the intake and checked the lifters - as good looking as when they went in.
As far as intake, the only areas where there should be concern on the V8 is water passages.
The idea of the intake gasket is that the metal seals the gap. The "Sealer" only accounts for extremely small imperfections. If the surfaces are smooth and the angles CORRECT and you don't have mill marks, etc. you won't have vacuum leaks.
If you have a vacuum leak at the intake gasket, you'd got a problem other than the sealer, IMO.
I have used various sealers, from copper sealer to RTV to Right Stuff to the old shellac type sealers.
No vacuum leaks if things fit correctly.
