I drove my 69 Rambler today. When I pulled in the garage and shut it off I noticed a gurgling sound in the carb. It lasted about 10 minutes. I read up tonight and it seems the gas was boiling or overly hot and caused the gurgling (perhaps air or vapor in the gas). I have a Holley 4150 with 570 CFM. There is a heat shield kit I can buy for it. My question is does this heat shield help to solve the gas overheating situation or is there something else to check? Thanks.

A heat shield, carburetor spacer of phenolic or other non heat conductive material, rubber hoses near any heat sources.
And the big one is that ethanol has a much lower boiling point then gasoline, so lower ethanol or non ethanol fuel. |
