AMC V8 timing chain covers: There has been a lot of BS spread about them by those hoping to sell you something. Unless a failing water pump has been allowed to chew it up then it's plenty serviceable. Worn or even gouged oil pump cavities will still produce more than adequate oil pressure.
There are those who claim to be the AMC community's best friend who are actually taking advantage of gullible members of our community. They tend to haunt the AMC forums selling parts that can be obtained for less elsewhere without undue delay. SKeown

Well, AMC guys can be pretty "ugly" too. In any case, this issue has been addressed -- not much point in continuing. Hopefully the OP got everything resolved one way or another.

You will appreciate a very unwavering demeanor when it comes time to protect a big investment like your engine. All else is just balogna.

I guess I'm the gullible type then, BUT...
I have a great-running AMC 360 V8 engine with no oil pressure issues and no idiotic distributor gear catastrophes. So phbbbt! Lmao Edited by sweatlock - Jan/07/2018 at 2:05pm |

Regarding AMC dipsticks: They can be difficult, particularly the common chrome plated ones. A neat trick for those running headers who sometimes need to remove them is to cut a 2" section off the top of an old tube (the fatter part), then cut the new chromed one 1" above the resting flange. That way you can drive the 2" section onto the bottom section while driving it home. It will go, I use a 5/16" bolt inserted into the section being inserted into the block to hit with the hammer. That way you have a socket for the upper portion that can be removed when removing headers. It wont leak and can be removed from the bottom with a 1/4" bolt inserted into the tube to tap on. Before driving the thing into the block make sure it's positioned through the pan's baffle. Edited by SKeown - Jan/02/2018 at 10:56pm |

Are there any news about Bulltear? I placed an order 5 weeks ago, they also have my money 5 weeks now.
No replies to emails, no order change, no response... nothing. That sucks. What is going on here. I would have no problem if it takes awhile to get the parts, but then, just a email would help to know that someone is working for the order.... |
