I have a not so great set of ringless Machine Wheels I'm thinking about putting on my 71 Javelin/AMX.

They're currently the wrong color (satin black), and I'm probably going to run them without center caps,

but is there a 'close match' for the correct color that comes in rattle cans?

What about trim rings,

anything off the shelf that would look semi presentable?

I'm not trying to fool anyone into thinking they are 100 point restorations,  I'd just like to run them without breaking the bank.

Thanks!

Jimmy

Depends on what color you like. NAPA/AutoZone carry wheel paint in various silver to charcoal colors, AMARK here on the Forum has rattle can paint for early and late model AMX/other AMC restorations. I've found RustOleum has a good quality silver metallic that's durable and covers well, and a charcoal metallic that's spot on for 68 AMX ashtrays and looks good on the inner portion of AMC door handles.
Good prep is key to a decent looking wheel repaint, sandblast if they're rusty, prime and paint!

Here's a couple of pics of a Chevy truck rally wheel trim ring on a Machine wheel. And a pic of the original Machine ring for comparison.

Go to the restoration section and click on the best info on what is correct. Once there click on the sticky AMC wheels. It's an extensive write up. I learned a lot from it.

I have found that 15 inch C body mopar beauty rings are a very good fit, and are removeable.

Here's some pics, hope they help. They're from a full body Chrysler wheel.

Grease,
[Go to the restoration section and click on the best info on what is correct. Once there click on the sticky AMC wheels. It's an extensive write up.]
I cant find the write up.Confused theres only one page of topics in the "best info" category and no "sticky AMC wheels". I tried to search machine wheels and tried elsewhere finding someones magmun resto. I need as much knowledge as avail on these.
I just joined this forum, so could be my bad.
thanks
