Question, installing brakes on the rear of my 68 amx, pads were gone when i got the car. large pad to the front or rear of the car? thanks

The primary shoe goes aka the smaller surface area goes on the front and the secondary shoe larger area goes on the rear

POWERSTROKER7.3 is correct.
The logic behind this feature is that the greater surface area of the secondary shoe "wraps" into the drum when braking (going forward) and the shoe lodges against the big mounting peg at the top of the backer plate.
