72 javelin with disc brakes. All new parts except the proportioning valve. I know the master is working. I have front brakes. Bled and working. Can't get fluid to the rear wheels. Any ideas?

the valve has a small round ball like in the center that needs to be raised very little in order to bleed the brakes. i have one on the 72 with disc i have. a tool was made at one time to raise it up. otherwise it will take two to bleed the brake and possibly three.

That is confusing to me. There is a pin that can be pulled in the end which the tsm says need to be pulled out to bleed the front brakes. In or out I am not getting fluid to the rear. We have pumped and pumped but no fluid is leaving the resevoir.

The combination valve is shifted from having pressure in the front but not in the rear.
Did you bleed the master first? if not, do that first but I assume you did. Did you have pressure on both ports of the master before bleeding the fronts? An easy way to get it to shift back (if you can't get the pin to move) is to crack a front line open and just push the pedal down, then close the line and let up. Repeat as necessary till you hear the valve snap back. You need to create a reverse pressure differential to get the valve to move back to center. |

I used to just stab the pedal quickly and hard a couple of times to reset the valve.

I had a similiar problem with my Matador Kelsey Hayes combo valve. I found a GM unit from inline tube fits perfectly without any mods whatsoever and have had it on for 4 years now...no issues

You can also try to suck fluid through to the rears.
Find a oil mix syringe intended for mixing fuel and oil for a chainsaw. Buy a bit longer piece of plastic tubing to better get access to everything at the rear. remove the bleeder valves and put a wrap or two (no more) of teflon tape on the threads (so threads seal positively) only of the bleeder and reinstall. Attach the hose from the syringe, open the bleeder and suck fluid into the rear wheel cylinder/caliper. or just buy one of the tools intended for vacuum bleeding Edited by White70JavelinSST - Aug/22/2016 at 11:58am |
