You need two at the top to go through the spindles and plates with nuts on the back side, and two for the bottom that go through the spindles and thread into the plates. The uppers could be made to thread into the plates also, but I'd still put a nut on the back. The lower ones can go through the plate some, but I don't think they can go through far enough to put a nut on the back. The four original bolts should be plenty long to go through the plate, which is most likely thinner than the spindle mounting points. Put the bolts in "head out", and you may have to trim one or two shorter or put them in a different position to clear on the back.

I have yet to install the lowering plates that I have.
Does anyone have a picture of an installation?

So, the top two bolts from the steering knuckle to the plate must be short and the holes tapped also! That's four short bolts into tapped holes...

Now that the plates are installed with grade 8 bolts and a few miles on them, have you noticed any changes to the geometry once you installed the plates? (i.e., turning radius, alignment issues, etc.?)
Thanks for posting this information. Edited by Scrambled - Dec/03/2012 at 12:15pm |
