I resisted fitting my AMX with a roll bar because I didn't want it perminately in place. Being the rules allow bolt in units plated on top and bottom, that's the approach I choose. It's designed to be removed and has a swing out drivers side bar. Here's some pictures before powder coating.

Is that a kit from somewhere, or did you, or someone bend it for you. Looks good I like the idea of a bolt in bar

A local shop formed the main hoop.

Very cool!  I wanted to put one in my AMX but the insurance company will not consider cars with roll bars.  They even rejected my sons NASCAR MATADOR because "it looks like a race car".

It's the minimum required for a 10 second car. Once the racing days are over it can be removed and the side bar can be removed by two pins when not at the track. It may serve to stiffen the car some, although I've never noticed the car flex. Some claim their side windows are doing funny things during a run, I've never experienced that. I wasn't thrilled about the extra weight of the roll bar, driveshaft loop and 5 pt restraint, but the aluminum heads pretty much offsets that, and is less weight in a better place. With the additional power and lighter front end, I'll be making a few test launches before getting serious.

Looks a heck of a lot better than the last time I saw that roll bar!

It's not the same one, I couldn't use the one you gave me, it was 1 5/8", now you have to use 1 3/4" for six point. Tony is faced with that change too.

I guess that is why it looked so much better!
