would *still* repair that fender. It's not bad at all.
Any body shop who says they *can't* fix that fender easily needs to be avoided, they're likely just a bunch of part changers.

I remember now, you'd posted some of these pictures before. It looks worse now, but still repairable.
It all depends on if the top part has any sunken part in it, and I can't tell that from the pictures you've posted. If the top flat part has no damage from this incident, it's not a hard repair, if it does have damage there, I would consider replacing it. With a porta-power, hammer and dolly, maybe with some heat, that fender could be brought back to where it would need minimum filler. I realize a lot of shops have just turned into parts swappers, bodywork is becoming a lost art. I've suggested fixing the fender mainly to keep from having to repaint so much of the car otherwise. Gold metallic is one of the most difficult colors to match, or blend. |

I had a similar sort of dilemma on my Mustang fender when I hit a deer. Only part was damaged and it probably could've been fixed fairly easily, but the cost of having someone do it was more than a whole new fender so I just replaced it, primed it, and painted it. Knowledge and experience is a very worthy thing when it comes to body work haha. I guess it's a balancing act between spending money, keeping things original, doing the work yourself, and getting work done. End game I think if you can actually find a decent body shop and you're willing to spend the money, then fix it, if that's not in the cards, paint the new one and have it blended.

When I bought my Spirit the right fender was crunched and my body man told to buy a new one. Then they were still listed in a crash book parts catalog. It happens that they're no longer available so he fixed it. Totally undetectable even when feeling the from the inner fender side. I'm talking about port-a-powers and come-a-longs, he brought it back to where you cant tell. He wanted me to buy a fender to avoid all the work it actually took. I'm happy and no one can visually pick it out. He's done body work for 40 years and hasn't been active for the last 8.

After seeing the pics I still believe the fender is repairable. The molding needs to go to an "old school" expert to be repaired. There are at least two guys from Dallas/Arlington here on this forum and the other forum that could probably send you to the "right" shop. "TA Javelin" comes to mind. Avoid, like the plague, the large BIG Name shops and find the ole school shop with a "metal man" like I have, with a painter who knows how to match the paint.

I live in Dallas, send me a PM if you'd be interested in pulling that fender off, and bringing it to my place, to see if we can't work those dents out. I know for sure I can straighten the stainless trim for you (heck, I've fixed a couple on my Rogue that were literally folded in half).

Thanx for the offer, but I have a guy on the case. I know he does decent work... He did the hardtop on my Vette and painted my friend's Pantera nicely. I'll post up results soon!
