Stuck valves... or it jumped time, meaning the nylon teeth on the camshaft gear broke off.....

oh that don't look good... any signs of valve interference with the pistons? was it running?
sure sounds like teardown time. curious what would do that on a 258. 195.6 OHV, it's common as dirt (at the half-century mark) |

Those valve faces don't show signs of hitting pistons. Tap each valve stem with a soft-face mallet to make sure they're not stuck in their guides. These AMC sixes seem to like to stick valves if they sit without being started for a long time.
