Nice find Scott! Now your plate is really full huh! Maybe you could get that NOS overlay that was listed by a member here last year.

That was an NOS rally pak overlay! Ask Nick Alfano about it.

Nice find! And a rare combination indeed.

I don't have time or the talent to do the bodywork, paint, detailing, and interior that Scott does, so I am letting him restore this one for me!!!  It took long enough just to find the time to get it running, driving, stopping and then deliver it, not to mention sorting through all the parts!!

The disassembly continues. Besides removing parts I am bagging and labeling all of the hardware (even if it wont be reused) and taking lots of detailed photos. The take-off parts are then boxed and stored in a dedicated area for future use.

Despite holding a lot of dirt the front and rear window channels look great! But water stains on the package shelf mean the rear window will need to be removed and resealed.

Don't you love original cars? I do! It's neat to find things which haven't seen the light of day for over 40 years. To me even the original carpet details are interesting.

Work on this project and the others has slowed to a crawl since my truck has been in the shop for the past week and a half. I've been using the Hornet AMX as a daily driver which is fine for running to the parts store or taking the kids to soccer, but not so good for pulling the car trailer or picking up parts from the media blaster! Despite this I have kept busy with some spring cleaning and organizing in the shop, plus getting things ready for when the truck is back.

Most of the parts which need to be chrome plated are ready to go. I lightly sand blasted the backs of the bumper rails and guards so they will be as clean as possible when I drop them off. Years ago I saw a bumper which had been replated right over heavy rust and even a pebble stuck to the back of the bumper with tar! Ever since I have cleaned up the backs myself.

How did you get the light sockets out of the tail light and reverse light fixtures.  Aren't now pressed it?  Did you ruin them in the process?  Just curious.  Joe

The tail light sockets are spring clips....they come right out with little effort.
