The pics look good. The 2 with each car on the start line are nice shots I was at Bright Rod Run on the weekend with my Mini and HQ. AMC line up was Ray and Jan Walker had thier white 75 Hornet and Dave and Linda Lamb were there in their 70Javelin. There was a little NASH Metropolitan for sale wandering around. There was also that elusive dark silver/bluish Hornet seen many times but no one was able to stop him and have a chat. That is the 3rd year in a row no one has been able to catch up and talk with the owner. Everytime it was seen it was going the other way or off in the distance. Maybe next year

The Bright Rod Run is easily one of the best car shows in Australia with activities and cars to suit everyone. It says Hot Rod in the title but has all types of cars up to 1977 but there is a few XD's, Commodorres etc that get around too. The weekend really revolves around the cruising of the town from friday arvo to sunday night with the show on the sunday only secondary in most peoples thoughts. The Chryslers on the Murray/AMC Rambler show is similar for some with the Saturday night cruising around Albury being paramount to the actual show on the sunday
Anyhow Bright has an estimated 1500 cars in and around the town on the weekend. You still see cars on the Monday morning you hadnt seen all weekend. I havnt talked to anyone who saw the AMX pictured so he may have cruised in and done a few laps and maybe headed back to Albury but there is a photo to prove he was there. From all reports that AMX will be at the 4th Australian AMC/Rambler show in March next year . As for the Hornet behind him that was such an elusive car. Everyone knew it was around but no-one was able to get hold of him for a chat. It reminded me of the movie American Graffiti (actually the whole weekend does) where Kurt is trying to track down the white T-Bird. Everytime the Hornet was seen it was off in the distance, turning a corner, coming the other way etc. Nice car to and would love to have caught up with him to see if he knows about thew AMC/Rambler show in Albury
As for my Mini and HQ it was the first time I had both of them together at something like this and it was a great feeling. The Mini was still in its October Bathurst 50th anniversary livery and people seemed to love it. All the HQ/Mini photo's came from the internet. Hopefully next year (but I am not setting myself a deadline) I will have my Hornet there and my dream is to have all 3 roaming the streets of Bright. And have the Hornet at the 5th AMC/Rambler show (it definatly isnt goiung to make next March
Thanks heaps again Western Red for putting these photo's up for me. Much appreciated

Hi Oz Ben, I think i might be the owner of your
lost Hornet. I got it in the mid 90's from the West Ryde area NSW. Then it drove me to QLD in 2001, I
still have it but it is not on the road and needs some time and money. I recognize the Hornet car club sticker
above the rear view mirror and the USA flag behind the front wheels. I would post a picture but can't seem
to get it to work. |

There is a good article in the recent Restored Cars magazine on the Aussie 1970 Javelins. Only on sale for another week I think. Has a photo of Clem Smiths brown Aussie one on the front cover
