Aussie 70s are the best Javelins IMHO .. All the best bits and pieces in the early body ..

I couldn't agree more on that one. The 1970 Javelin's were the only AMC's in Australia fitted with the 390. The 72's were great as well with the 401. Only if we had the manual option fitted to Javelin's down under would have been sweet.

keepikng in mind that when these cars were new they were not afraid of the rain, I think a 70 would be much better to drive than the 72. I had a 72 and it was a pig. tried everything to make it a nice driver. Couldn't do it. Maybe something was bent - it had been sideswiped in the past. Never drove any good. I changed to a 70 rebel which is absolute magic. Prob for the same reason as the 70 javelin would be great. smaller car on the same suspension.
motor road tests on you tube show the 72 as a poor handler compared to its earlier cousin.

Meh .. my LHD '74 drives fine, actually more comfortable than the '69 (trunnions) .. probably depends on the condition of the car .. and keeping LHD with better parts availability probably means better condition.

Seeing were posting pics of our cars, here my old 67 American. She gets driven just about every day. Just finished a holley conversion, was absolutely fed up trying(very trying) to get that bloody WCD Carter to work properly. Seems to run and drive now better than it ever has. Smoother with heaps more get up and go.

Photo taken at Yatala Drive in.

Pic of the carby conversion, looks weird mounted sideways, but does what I need it to do.

Sweet looking American, I haven't seen your car for a while now. Taking it to Cooly Rock this year?

G'day Huddy, long time no see. Hope you're keeping well. We'll be at Cooly, looking forward to it actually. Hope they dont mind stone chips and dead bugs, because mines got plenty of them. I was a bit worried about driving it down, with the carby the way it was, but it looks like it might make it now. haha.

I think I be copping a few bugs too. I should be taking the 70 Ambassador up and be arriving on the Friday. I will be leaving Sydney on the Thursday. Ive heard on the grapevine that we should be getting a great lineup of Ramblers.
