Thanks for the tip guys. I'm going to chase down a gallon and try it on the neck I have here. What would you think best to coat the inside of a neck with after cleaning? Since the end 1" or so will have to be heated up a bit to solder it back in I guess it would be best not to have anything on the very end...

Evaporust is great for removing rust. But it offers no protection for the item starting to rust again without other actions. It's basically the same as sandblasting as far as the part will start to rust again in days or weeks. A phosphoric acid product changes the surface appearance but offers future protection against rust as it eats the rust and also some metal away.

Here's the advantage of Evaporust for certain applications:   It works by chellating (chemically bonding) to the rust and pulling it into solution. It does not affect paint or other materials like plastic or rubber any more than plain water would.  This is a good thing for things that can't easily be disassembled.  It does not etch the metal like vinegar would.   You do need to rinse the item thoroughly and recoat it with whatever coating you intend to use promptly after removing it from the solution.
Happiness is making something out of nothing.
