Just make sure it's an AU heater and not a BA one .. Just about all BAs broke the mixer shaft meaning it might have to come out again to be repaired!!
Nice work though .. :) |

Ha! Its a series 1 AU but it does have a broken mixer shaft.
Lucky I found it early and I am still in the fit stage, where the box comes out 10000 times. I did the condensor and pipe work from the AU and it fits quite nicely. The condensor is about as big as it could be and still fit. the pipes all run down the left hand side which is a pretty empty area, and the dries fits nicely in the corner under the left hood hinge. I just have to mount the condensor with some custom brackets. The mixer shaft is easy repaired, but like I said would have been a pain if I had put it all together. |

dont know if anyone is following my random writings but if they are my rebel project has taken a big change in direction.
I have decided to ditch the old 360 V8 in favour of something more practical. So I am hatching a plan to drop in a Jeep 4.0 six. I will be stroking it out to 4.6, and a few other essential things - camshaft, rockers etc. Under 3000rpm the six will just about match the 360, but of course as revs build the 360 makes more and more HP. I will keep the factory EFI system, I might use the factory gauge cluster, and I will look at the ABS but I think thats prob gonna be too risky. Anyways I am going to chase up some leads on complete cars - so I have all the electrical bits, and we shall see. I did buy a 96 steering column from a Jeep, and its going to work well in the rebel. Almost a bolt in fit. I yanked a steering box so all the bits should work in well together. I also grabbed a wiper motor from the jeep and it looks like I will be able to make it work with the rebel wipers. This simplifies alot of things, especially as I am using the wiper switch on the jeep column. |

well, today I picked up a 94 or 95 cherokee limited to use as a donor.
It was overheated and so the engine is in pieces - and missing 2 pistons and rods. But for $600 or thought it was worth it just for the electrics etc. Lucky for me, this model mounts the AC compressor on the left side, which is exactly the Falcon AU compressor that I am using mounts. I will have to think a little about mounting the Ford compressor, but alot easier than crossing it to the other side of the engine bay. Its a shame to wreck the cherokee. Everything works, the tyres are virutally new, and no rust/minor dents. A quick look at the engine bay and things are looking good. The main fuse panel mounts on the right next to the battery - the same location as the rebel. The computer mounts on the left, which is good as there is some spare space on that side of the rebel. I am tempted to transport all the modern conveniences across to the rebel. Things like interior light delays etc. |

If anyone is following this, then some of my progress has ended up in the six cylinder section. Look for 4.0 into Rebel under the 4.0 section.
I have been working away on the wiring for the Rebel. So far so good. But its alot of thinking into making it work, especically when I am marrying parts from different cars into one cohesive group. Once I have the engine wiring under control I will bring back progress to this page. |

Progress. The under dash parts are just about done. I have mounted all the relays etc up high so that they can easily be accessed by pulling out the cluster. I have mounted the fuse panel in the kick panel. I just need to waterproof the area before I finalise the install.
