Kevin, I've repaired original sets. The joints are brazed so they can be taken apart and new tubes brazed back in, provided the main tube is still structurally sound..

Keep in mind that these parts are NOT correct for emission controls on 1970 and prior AMC's.  Additionally, if you are a purist these emissions tubes are not correct...they will fit but originally the check valve is intergral to the tube. Great alternate for function though.
Sorry I should have been more specific about the year. I got those tubes for a 1973 Javelin 360
and the valves I bought from ADP which are seperate from the tubes. I guess 1972 and back have different injection tubes like you are saying. But those tubes I put the link on here for are good for 73 and 74 amc v8's and I'm guessing all the way to 1991 for the 360 v8

The original "bolts" are not like late model too....they have a bigger hex and have tube that sticks out of end of the bolt.  You certainly would not see the inner tube but the hex shows.  Anyway, to answer your question Kevin.....well Joe and others certainly have some great experience to share here!!! Awesome to see others really make an effort on preserving this rare parts.  Just FYI, Kevin I have not ever twisted any off!!!!!!..there is a trick, I grind the head of the "bolts" off, then slide the tube off.  Yes, you sacrificed the "bolt", but I can make those if I have too, the tube is much more work to fabricate.

Is there supposed to be a tube that sticks inside those bolts?

Awesome - makes me feel better.  If I had not disassembled mine, they would have been near perfect as is, but you just can't get these things off without almost destroying them.  I am sure others will be inspired to try it to.  Thanks!

The earlier, pre 1970 "bolts" have a tube attached to the inside of the bolt....this was discontinued later (not sure when).

See attached pic.

Kevin......I know not everyone has access to Bridgeport type Vertical Milling Machine, but that is how I cut the heads off without generating heat like torch or angle grinder....the angle grinder will work fine you just need to go slow when you are close so not to damage the tubes.

You are right about two different manifold tubes, left and right...3 hole and 4 hole.   The late model cars swapped to the smaller he and no tube in "bolt" style at some point but I am not sure when.  I remember at some point in the 80's I was ordering the early style with tube and AMC sent me the others....then randomly I would get one style or the other for several years. Does this answer your question??  If you look closely at those "73 pics" they show the Eaton Power Steering Pump engine bracket (last year used was 1971), the emissions pump mounting bracket is also a Eaton pump adapter...in 1973 the bracketry is part of Saginaw Power Steering Pump Bracket.  The picture work also is showing the early straight tubes.....the TSM picture work is frequently used over from previous years.

A really closer look of that 73 TSSM shows me that pic is from 1968 TSM, the "bypass valve" or known as backfire valve is the early 68 large valve with the vacuum control fitting that comes off (threaded in place), the later valve this fitting is integral to the backfire valve.   Look at your Parts Book and you can see the P.S. bracket differences.
