I was wondering if anyone can tell me what differential ratios were available, most common used, and what AMC ratios are available today?

Thank you.......Jody

That's a big question.  You need to narrow it down somehow.

AMC 15 or 20 rearend ?   Dana 44 or 35 ?  2wd or 4 wd.    What year ?

Just myself, I've owed AMCs with factory 4.11,  3.73, 3.53, 3.31, 3.08, 2.76  and 2.35 all in AMC 15 rearends.

Then in AMC 20 rearends I've had a 3.15.   In a Dana 44 i've had a 3.73.  Then there's some I never checked.

That's just what i've personally had,  there are several more that were available .

And what's available today ?   Do you mean aftermarket?   Or what ?

I always thought 3.15 was the most common, at least in the mid sixties big cars.

I've owned AMCs all the way back to 56,  the older 6 cylinder cars had pretty tight ratios in the rear end. Then i've had 3 AMCs with overdrive,  another group of cars with high ratio rears too.
But once you get away from the early cars, and overdrives, you see a lot of 3.08 in the straight drive 6 cylinders, and 2.76 auto  6 cylinders.

I've got 4 AMC 20 rearends, every one is 3.15.

But that is just from my experience,  you'd have to go to sales literature to find out was was common, and what was optional in the different years.

If looking for new and amc model 20 look at jeep listings. They used a model 20 and are the easiest to find.

In addition to what 401 Matcoupe posted, 3.54 was also an optional gear for most automatic AMC cars with the AMC 20 rear, at least in 1970 and 71.

Hi tyrodtom, you got me here - I missed the 2.73:1  part #'s 3207873, 4486834 , 4487812, 8122767. But I cannot find a 2.76:1 part #. Not saying it doesn't exist but is there a part #?
The list I posted above is for model 15 and 20. To break the list to specific years by part # would be several pages.

I deal with so many different cars,  what I called a 2.76 was probably GM or someone else,  probably was 2.73 for AMC.
I was quoting that from memory,  we know how memory can be.

I notice you have only one part # for the 4.10 rear end,  I assume that's for the AMC 20.

AMC also had a 4.10 or 4.11 ratio for the AMC 15,  it was used a lot on the early 6 with OD.  I've had 1 maybe 2.  I confirmed that ratio by taking the cover off and counting the gear teeth.
