Your pictures of the timing marks look to me like they are one tooth off.

Thanks for the help, and the positive comments. I’m really taking my time with this build just so there are no mistakes. I’m hoping to hit in the neighbourhood of 400hp but that could be a lofty goal for what I’ve got in it. Either way it will make an already exciting car that much more exciting. I still have to order a few things from robbmc so that may take awhile to arrive up here. Does anyone know what a factory AMC V8 mechanical fuel pump will support in terms of hp?

Installed new water pump, and lifters today. Waiting on some Stainless hardware. In the meantime I’m refurbishing old brackets, etc. More pictures:

Just left the front unwrapped to cure overnight.

Going with Aluminum Eddy heads (60119), they come complete. So I just need to get good pushrods bolt everything on, adjust, and go. I'm sure there are better choices of rockers but I chose the easy route, lol.

I have hooker 3” competition headers currently running into 2.5 crossover to 2.5 flowmaster super 40 series then all the way out the back. The exhaust made the original engine come alive compared to the anemic factory 2 inch. Had to do exhaust anyway so I figured might as well do it right
