Overhauling a AMC 20 out of a 69 AMX. 3.15 posi unit, or limited slip but anyways I seam to remember the carrier bolts being left hand thread. does anyone no for a fact if they are. searched the web but found nothing on this subject which makes me think there right hand thread but want to be sure before attempting to unbolt.

You are correct, the bolts holding the two-piece carrier together are left-hand threaded.

Only ones originally from a 390 car. If you are still unsure use two box end wrenches on bolts next to each other. With the wrenches on and sticking straight out you can squeeze them together only one will come loose and not enough force will be applied to break the other one. Will work if bolts are right or left handed thread.

Wow thanks for the info guys. So my memory isn't that far gone. The 2 wrench method is a great way to also figure that out. just for insurance I'll do that first before I break out the impact. Also found out through a Forum member that an X at the end of the part number also indicates left hand threads and also the casting on the bolt heads are indicators, here are some pics. yep 390 Auto.
