Kudos to 304-dude aka James for coming thru with delivery of a pumpkin for the floater rearend build!!!  I'll keep anyone interested in the buildup of the rear up to date on the car's thread, AZ Road Racer Project.

Strongest and widest AMC 20 housing is gonna be a FS Jeep widetrack. Plenty to be found cheap

The OP is customising, more than just tubes and length. The centers on both jeep and AMC are the same, but Jeep is weaker at the ends by the fact it has been bored oversize to accommodate the larger tubes. IMO it is best to get thicker tube not larger to start with for a custom build.

Thus I see his pick as a valid for his needs.
