Could always correct the carb angle with a mill and re-drill the mounting holes. I havent seen one but I have done that a few times on other intakes.

Many boats have angled carbs and normal flat intakes. They use a wdge plate under the carb. Any marine supply could get them. Use the angle plate on an angled manifold and you get a horozontal surface. They cancel each other out. All you have to do is redrill the stud holes to verticle.

The automotive style boat intakes are exactly the same as the car intakes. Boats use an angled spacer under the carb. There are unique boat intakes that are for low rise concerns and the carbs are side draft. Remember that boats normaly run at a narrow rpm range and torque is everything--WOT is not important usually. Most boat guys running the 327 like the automotive style intake since they can use a standard carb that does not leak and they get away from the water cooled intake. There is a rumor that there is an aluminum 2V automotive style intake used by Gray Marine, never seen one.
If you want aluminum that flows Much Better than the old cast iron ones make one. Edited by Rebel 327 - Jan/08/2012 at 7:35pm |

Yep, that's the old dual 1V side draft "low rise" Grey Marine engine.
The 1/2" spacer plates with gaskets works fine on a normally aspirated engine. The gaskets tend to leak only when turbo charged. The problem is the head design is a bit restrictive and pressure will find the weakest point to leak out. Vacuum isn't a problem, the engine doesn't suck that much! The photos of the intake do point out what needs to be cut off though. The main things are the front and back next to the runners. The stock water crossover is retained and the distributor is in the rear. The front and rear portions of a new style manifold will interfere with the crossover and distributor. The parts between the runners can be left alone. |

If there were anough interest that would be EASY to set up in a Horizontal miller.
VERY easy indeed. It would however reasult in a $1000 manifold for say 5 to 10 of them. And maybe a few hundred less depending on quantity. The steps are quite simple but a little costly. As I see it there would be one operation in a Horizontal. And I also would use an air gap dual plane. The only question would be to weld or make head plates, or both. Adding to this idea. If a dozen of you 327 junkies could cooperate and pool your resources, get or make drawings and submit them for a quote to a NC Jobber shop I bet you could get them made for about $300 above the cost of the Edelbrock air gap manifolds. Volume is equal to discount in the world of Job Shops. Edited by Boris Badanov - Aug/25/2014 at 3:12pm |

As I said, you 327 junkies need to form a little co-op
and feed it to a jobber. I'll bet it will be worth your trouble. And may I add it would be nice on a 250 or a 287... Note, I am NOT stumping for business, just an idea. |
