Thanks Farna ill keep all of this in mind next I may need a harmonic balancer, my goal is to rebuild the 232 with just enough pep to get out of my own way, so its been quite learning curve for me going for helping pull maintenance on the diesel trucks at work to this gasser.

All you really need for the 232 is a better cam and carb. Isky 256 Supercam or similar with a 2V Motorcraft 2100 (one of the small ones, no more than the 1.08 venturi -- I'd use a 1.01 or 1.02 on a 232 though). Here's a breakdown of the 2100 CFM ratings. The bore is cast in a circle on the bowl.
Bore CFM 0.98 190 1.01 240 1.02 245 1.08 287 1.14 300 1.21 351 1.23 356 1.33 424 The WCD 2V AMC used on the 232 as an option some years is only about 195-200 cfm. That will work if you can find a good one, but you can find parts and such easier for the 2100. You will need a 2V intake and a 2V to 4V adapter (the MC 2100 has a 4V bolt pattern), or an open plenum aftermarket 4V intake. |
