They use galvanized 16 gauge 1/2 inch crown staples. I plan to staple the rubber on (I am sure the staples will penetrate the rubber and metal, hold the stapler tightly to the surface and the staples will shoot right in), use side cutters to cut down the ends of the staples, then bend them over with pliers and (here we go again, Sidewinder) a hammer. I might use a high density polystyrene block to back it up, as the staples will shoot into it and the block will pull off.<br>The Paslode stapler I use will bury a 2-inch staple solidly into an oak block, so I think it will work.<br><span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by 6768rogues - Apr/01/2012 at 6:46pm</span>]]>

You can cut one up into 3 or 4 staples and they are easy to fold over and you can get them in a nickel finish if you want.<br><br>]]>

That's why many AMC's rusted out at the top of the fenders since there was no way to protect the bare metal above the troughs since the assembled the sheet metal parts before paint. Lots of bare metal under hinges and other hidden areas. I remove my bolt on parts and paint the inside whenever possible to prevent future rust damage, even though it is not factory correct.]]>
