Author: hpva
Subject: 39094
Posted: Apr/26/2012 at 7:53pm

As you might all remember I`m the one who started this topic when I had the problem with my 59 American.Well after 3 different carburetors and 2 fuel pumps ( after the first new fuel pump I thought I had the problem licked but after 2 weeks the car again started bucking so I replaced the fuel pump with another with no luck) the problem ended up being the points which had about 800 miles on them.We removed the cap and there was a gray powdery haze inside the cap.I installed a pertronix setup and it runs like a champ.Last night I regapped the plugs and took it for a ride, as I made a left hand turn I heard a clunk so I pulled off the road. I opened the hood and found my radiator had sprung a leak, thats when I realized I had left the plug gapper on the battery and when I made the turn it slid off the battery and hit the fan which in turn threw it into the radiator. The radiator is now at the radiator repair shop getting fixed. Some days its not even worth getting out of bed in the morning.
