Iola will be here pretty soon, so just letting everyone know.

What: Iola Old Car Show and Swap Meet 2010
When: July 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th. 
Where: Iola, WI

The theme this year is "Sensational Sixties," so if you have a '60-'69 vehicle, I think you get a discount or something in the show car area, that might just be for pre=registration, not sure.

I am kinda see-sawing on what to bring this year as a vendor.  Either a trailer full of large body panels or a car and some small stuff.

If anyone has any requests for AMC parts that I might have, pm me and I can bring it to the show since I don't usually bring much AMC stuff there.  I have a shed full of parts to clean out and a bunch of parts cars.  Some of you may have known my dad if you frequent Iola and are an AMC head.  I'm Chuck Chasas Jr.

Well it's finally here, the Chrysler Nationals at Carlisle. I have some Mopar and some AMC parts to sell. If anybody plans to attend I will have my Javelin on the show field and I will be located at D-124. ( between the car corral and the main concessions under the grand stand)

Established in 1985, the High Performance Auto Club (HPAC) continues to host an annual, exclusively MOPAR car show and swap meet in the KC metro area each summer.  Reflecting the times, it’s been renamed this year to better include the brands that have been added over the years to the MOPAR stable.  While the feature vehicle this year will be from the AMC family, any and all MOPAR enthusiasts are welcome to participate.  More information can be found at www.hpacmopar.com. 

 

KCAMC Club and HPAC (High Performance Auto Club) is cordially inviting all AMC owners and clubs to save the date for July 10-11, 2010 for The Midwest MOPAR Family Reunion.  This year HPAC is honoring AMC by presenting the AMC AMX (all years) as their feature vehicle for their car show.  It would be very exciting to see us rally together and make a killer showing at this car show.  KCAMC has been going to this car show for probably close to 10 years or more.  They are always excited to see us and welcome us with open arms.  Hope you’ll join us.

Mark Donohue Reunion at Road America

July 15-18, 2010

 

This year commemorates the 40th Anniversary of the Mark Donohue Javelin competing in the Trans Am Series.  I am pleased to announce there will be a Mark Donohue Reunion held at Road America in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin, July 15-18, 2010.  The event will be held in conjunction with the Kohler International Challenge with Brian Redman presented by Ford.

 

To celebrate the event, and Mark’s victory at Road America in the Javelin, owners of Mark Donohue and Trans Am Javelin street cars are invited to bring their cars.  Road America will provide a special display area to showcase the cars.

 

The Mark Donohue Reunion will also feature a display over a dozen of Mark’s race cars.  The Sunoco Porsche 917/30KL, IMS owned Indy winning Sunoco McLaren M16B, a ‘70 Trans Am Javelin and Roger Penske’s First National City Penske PC-1 F1 car, are among the many race cars scheduled to appear.

 

Michael Argetsinger, award winning author of “Mark Donohue, Technical Excellence at Speed” from David Bull Publishing, will also officially unveil a second companion book featuring many photographs of Mark’s career.  It should be an excellent complement to the Donohue Biography, also written by Argetsinger.

 

Key people who were involved in Mark’s career including Karl Kainhofer, John "Woody" Woodard, Bill Preston, and Jerry Kroninger, among others will also be in attendance.

 

This weekend promises to be action packed with beautiful vintage racing cars at one of America’s most prestigious racing venues.  This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for owners of Mark Donohue and Trans Am Javelin street cars to display their cars to people who love the sport and history of auto racing.

Come join all the fun and join in the racing action as the Great Lakes Classic AMC club has secured the Milan Dragway for a Test-N-Tune session beginning at 11am to 5pm.  We will have our own lane so the AMC vs. Rambler contest can take place.  It is ok to race your Pacer, Concorde Wagon or Flat Head Six cars--it is just a fun day.  Of course if you have a fast car, you could challange the 2006 NAMDRA Class Champion War Fish (Marlin). Think you can beat a fish?
 
Come out and have some fun--Join us for the innaugural day of racing that will sure to become an annual event.  
 
Look for the Farm Guys Race Team to make an appearance.

This event is a combination of my father's enjoyment of hot rods/ muscle cars and his vision for what he believes to be an ultimate hot rod event.  As you will see listed on the website, this event is a combination of various activities including a car show, (3) cruise-ins, a poker run, sock hop, and more.  The goal is a little, or ALOT of, something for everyone.
 
All of this will take place in and around the picturesque Village of Lake George NY, which many of you in the northeast will also associate with the "Americade" and the "Adirondack Nationals".  It truly is a destination you can enjoy with your whole familly.
 
If you are truly interested in attending, I encourage you to register online as soon as possible.  Ultimately, it would be a huge success if hundreds of cars chose to participate.  The reality is the event will not occur if there aren't AT LEAST 100 pre-registrants by July 1st.  So, I encourage you to register sooner rather than later if you would like to see this become a reality.  Registrants should click on the "Features" tab for a list of hotels who are offerings a discounted rate for PRE-REGISTRANTS.

Well, this year the annual Delsea Drive In Cruise In(this will be the 4th one) will be held on August 14th
Unfortunately, they are showing the horrrrrrrrrible remake of Starsky and Hutch. However, I will still be attending, I've been to all except the second one (they showed American Graffiti at the first, Grease at the second, last year they showed my favorite movie of all time, Smokey and the Bandit) I may be having a small BBQ before hand, but probably not

This event is best to take your whole family to. The drive in will show that, then two of the more modern movies that would be showing that day anyway.
