You can get it at Summit, Jegs or most auto parts places. It's probably one of the easiest installs to do. Remove the distributor cap, take off the points plate by removing two screws, attach the Pertronix plate and then hook up the two wires to the coil.

It does not work straight off of mechanical linkage. Engine vacuum causes it to fill the reservoir and lack of engine vacuum lets the light spring that works it discharge the fuel as if you are or want acceleration. In can cycle in certain failure modes. And cause problems such as you are describing.
I think the seal caused by the cup or on the accelerator pump can give problems. 'Specially if you are using a standard transmission.
At least I have had problems with that in the past. A partial solution at one point in time was to enlarge the jet size that squirts into the carburetor by drilling it out a smidgeon. I don't know whether it would do any good on the problem you are having now, but it helped me a bunch of years ago. Formulation change in gasoline can do some weird things.

Edited by uncljohn - Yesterday at 7:14pm

I have been having a problem with mine too. It seems to lean out at cruise, thru every gear it bucks from minor to terrible. It got so bad I parked it and then during the diagnosis pulling off the fuel line and something else I don't even remember I started it up to move it and the damn thing ran perfect! I drove it for weeks running perfect and then it started bucking like a friggin steam train engine getting worse and worse.

I pulled the carb apart and cleaned it out that didn't seem to do anything. I am lost, it just seems to be leaning out.

I have a "new" Holly two barrel coming from my nephew who is changing the motor in his 54 Hudson Wasp. It is a progressive two barrel like they used on Pintos in the seventies. He tells me it worked great and with hardly any modifications. I can post back here when I get it and see how it works. The little YF that's on these cars is odd carb and it "should" work for goodness sakes, it has all these years right? It is simple, why the heck doesn't it work?

Brian
