Kind of a dumb question, and it boils down to me not wanting to wait like a little kid, but here goes...

My lovely wife is buying me a set of new Cragar ss rims!!!!
I like the Hot Wheels look, so I want 15x8 for the rears. Well they're backordered and not expected to ship till August. 15x7's are available now.

Hmmmmm. What to do?

I'm wondering if there's a noticeable difference between the two?
I know I should just wait for what I originally wanted, but...

Any thoughts?

Some people will be able to tell the difference, some won't.
Which are you ?   I don't know.

Not a lot of help, am I.

In a mechanical sense with tire to road performance. A wide tire on 7" rim makes the tire more flexible and rolls over the bulging sidewall. An 8" rim has less bulge from rim lip to tire tread, so better performance with wide tires.

I would go with the 15 x 8 providing you go with a 4.5 backspace if its a leaf spring car

Heck yes there's a noticeable difference. If that's what you really want, then wait. It will be worth it. Are you checking are to different sellers to see if there are any out there on a shelf somewhere? How stuck are you on Cragars? There are a lot of look a likes out there....... Wink

It's gotta be Cragar SS rims. My all time favorite!

NO ONE has 15x8, uni-lug, 4.25 backspacing. It's crazy.

I know, I know, 1st world problems waaaaa.
I really hope Cragar pumps them out sooner then August.

They have to wait until the next load gets in from China. They're not made here here anymore that I know of - as are a lot of others.

15x8 typically have a deeper dish/lip compared to 15x7

if your going to run a 255 and  up, get the 15x8
245-60 will work well with either width rim..but still would be  better on a 15x8
if youre only going to go 235-60s just do 15x7
