My 77 304 AMX has three connections on the charcoal canister. The big one is capped. The purge hose goes to the snorkel on the air cleaner. The third connection has a little white plastic plug in it and then ther hose goes over the stub where the plug is. Is this little white piece really a plug or is it a check valve of some sort?

Thanks.

It is really tough working in a small garage with a trouble light.

I took the little plastic piece out and it has a small hole in the center. The hose that was on it is too small to fit over the stub so I took a larger piece and put a reducer in the line and it fits nice and tight and the canister is back in operation. Now the gas cap has to be changed and I got one of those from Auto Zone. We'll find out Tuesday if the gas smell goes away.
