So 14x6 painted magnums are the base wheel  and 15x7 slots were optional?

Hey 70BBO

I looked at a 1974 304 AMX once the seller swore it was all original -had the 14" multi-spoked WHEEL COVERS on all four corners.

From the 1974 brochure:

STANDARD:  304 V8, Disc Brakes, Slot-Styled wheels, a rear deck spoiler and more!

So, I would wager a solid guess that the base wheel would be the 14x6 Slot.  Magnums and 15x7 optional extras.

It does say further on that "full wheel covers" are Javelin-only.

Thanks for the replies. The reason I ask is because a local guy contacted me about his recently purchased 74 Javelin AMX. To his credit he is wanting to keep it all original. The car is in great shape since it was Z-barted. Its plum with a 304 three speed and twin grip. I have some 14x6 slots that I was thinking he could use but wasn't sure since I don't know a lot about the 74 Javelin. It currently has rusty Cragar SST's.

Wow! That's actually pretty neat!  304/3 speed is the base engine combo. Does it have manual disc brakes too??  Funny how now it's interesting to see the 'stripper' models as opposed to the fully-loaded machines.  I can totally appreciate both.

I believe 8 Slot, Volcano Center 14 x 6 Standard, 14 x 6 Magnum Option...like about $15.00 and then 15 x 7 Option, same with 1974 Matador X...but no 15 x 7 optionUnhappy

Power disc brakes, PS, non AC, am radio, no tac, no console, Plum with black interior, no vinyl roof and has  a cowl hood which wasn't avail in 74. Really good looking car. I will try to get some pictures and post  them in  an appropriate thread.

Do you mean it has a functional cowl hood?  Cowl hoods were very much available on '74, just non-functional ones.
