73 javelin double panel roof?

I have a 73 javelin and want to do some repairs on the roof. It seems too have a roof under a roof lol. Has anyone removed this ?? Like removed and welded it back in ??

Are you sure that what you're seeing isn't just the inner construction that goes around the perimeter on any car's roof ?

I've replaced many new roofs on cars in the year range in 2000s too now. I'm a collision tech. I can't say I've seen this before

doubling over a roof skin isn't a factory option,

it had to have been done by a collision tech.

yes it is a factory inner construction it covers the roof from the back side. Werid. Has anyone ever removed this too repair the backside of the roof ??

Ask SceneOne, he has stripped a Javelin down to a skeleton. He has a thread call 3rd time is a charm, you may see some of the structure you're questioning on.

I have had the complete roof structure off of my car. There are several layers making up the structure and the roof panel is welded to the structure. If you need to work on the roof panel it's much easier to work outside in, cut out the bad from the outside, clean up what's underneath then patch in whatever you cut out.
