The original radiator blew a seam coming home from a cruise in last Friday. I’m beginning my search for a replacement. Are original style units still available anymore? If not, what are your opinions on the aftermarket radiators?

Original type copper/brass radiators, $438. Aluminum radiators can be found from Champion that are a lot less, about half price, but don't look stock.

Also one can recore... though it all depends on having a year by radiator shop. For the owner of thr thread, there is someone here selling a 74 tank set, if your tank is ruined.

Eventually I will be removing my tanks and mounting brackets to sell, from my 71.

I have the 232 six. I thought about having the tanks replaced but decided to not take any chances with further unseen flaws, so I’m aiming for a new one.

i bought a '64 american wagon, sans the original radiator.  the PO made some random, modern rad he had lying around work.  i was going to get an original brass one to keep the look.  i instead opted for a heavy-duty aluminum one specific to my car.  it was cheaper than brass, and has better cooling capacity than brass.  i live in the desert, so i decided to forgo the original looks and go for functionality.

champion has the market cornered on these, but there are also less expensive ones available if your budget is tight.

I ended up ordering one from US Radiator.....I wanted the original look. They indicated that it would ship in about 10 days so I’ll update this thread once I get the part.

Matt, I’d seen your ad for the grill. Mine is perfect so for the money I’ll pass. If someone hits mine I’d probably regret not buying yours but hopefully you’ll be able to move it soon. Good luck....... Mac VP

I see you already bought a radiator, and I'm not sure if it's the "look" you're looking for, but RockAuto has them for pretty cheap compared to USRadiators...

Here's the part number:  8010403

Maybe this'll help somebody else in the future.

(Also, if anybody has actually tried this radiator, I'd be interested to hear if they're any good or not, because I'm planning to get one for my Gremlin...)
