    Posted: Dec/04/2016 at 6:40pm
Finally found the problem with not having reverse.  The reverse band lever block (part that goes between the lever and the band) was not in place.

I managed  to get things all put back together correctly, but when I went to adjust the lever with the adjusting screw, as soon as it began to tighten, it wouldn't tighten to proper specs and that's when I found the core of the problem.  The threads for the adjusting screws are stripped in the lever.

I'm trying to find a replacement, but so far I haven't been able to find one.

Does anyone know where I can get the lever and/or the adjusting screw?

Thanks!

Steve

Take a look at the piston and the retainer to be sure it's not damaged from from that coming out of adjustment. Hate to see you have issues after you replace the lever.

Good point.  It's easy enough to pull out the piston with everything out of the way right now.

I'm not seeing any scoring or knicks on or around the piston, but better to be sure.

Try your local trans rebuilder.
They should have a few parts trans' laying
around.

Thanks.

1970390amx helped me out with an entire lever assembly!

Once it warms up a bit, I'll be able to start putting the trans back
together.

17 degrees here in NJ this morning.  And going up to 50 this weekend :)
