Do have to give Mike some credit. Even though he did not buy an AMC at the Mecum auction he did previously buy a nice ride for his wife. I think he found this one up in Washington state.

Things should really start to happen now. The engine is over at the paint shop and the Control Freak suspension, along with the Wilwood brakes are here. One slight delay with the rear suspension. Mike has decided to go with Moser axles so we will only be able to go so far with the rear until the axles hit the shop.

The axles are out and will be on their way to Moser soon to have one piece replacements made.

The twin grip unit looks great. Clean and no visible damage or undue wear.

Lots and lots of Control Freak goodies to install. This is going to be one fun project.

The engine is painted and the re-assembly has started. The painted valve covers will go and some trick aluminum ones will replace them. I need to get another picture as the intake, push rods, and rockers were installed after this one was taken. The front cover and intake are powder coated with a "chrome" powder coat finish.

Not a lot to report but I did want to post a better picture of the engine. The valve covers have not been changed yet but the intake is on and the power steering pump is mounted. Very interesting looking PS pump. This is what Control Freaks provides now for use with the power rack on the IFS. In case you did not make the connection yet the engine block has been painted the body color. A little more work and the engine will be ready for a break in run the test stand.

Yet more of the Control Freak IFS being mocked up. Good thing we are doing a dry run on this install. Twice now we have discovered missing parts for the IFS. Also we found that the Wilwood kit for the rear axle contained two right hand disc setups which also appear to be the wrong type for AMC. Until that is all resolved this project has hit the slow lane.

The lower control arms are now attached to the IFS. It proved to be much easier to drop the IFS out of the car to attach them. With any luck the missing hardware should be here tomorrow.
