Thanks Dean,
Cam, it was my pleasure meeting you, your car is amazing, and you don't give yourself enough credit. The work you have done on both your cars is first class. B.P. |

Well new fuse panel installed and wiring complete with the exception of radio. part of the dash assembly has been installed. I have now moved onto the consol which was broken in multiple places. I used JB weld on the seams and also to adhere sheet metal on the back side. after set up reinforced it with tiger hair. It first appeared that there was a piece missing on the side so I form bent metal and began to rebuild the missing side. Dummy me went to check fitment and realized the missing piece is not meant to be there. After researching photos to double check what it should be, it appears that they must have just modified the automatic consol as needed. I also moved onto the front of the car installing the front cowl and brackets for the grill. I am also beginning the repair work on the plastic grill which is broken in numerous places. I also am fabricating new turn signal brackets.[/IMG][/IMG]

SceneOne, I really don't like using JB Weld as a forming agent for missing plastic or filler. Mainly because it is brittle under side loading without much reinforcing material behind it. It does better when placed within a confined space as the load is spread against the area being fixed, not the JB Weld it's self.
After time from vibrations and heat expansion with plastic being diff than JB Weld, the fix will break away from the material it is placed upon. I use bare formed aluminum can cutouts for molds, no freeing agent to form hard components with JB Weld, and once cured, the JB Weld will release from the smooth surface without much effort. For filling plastic, i use liquid nails general purpose in the tube cartidge, as it adheres to most any substrate, smooth or rough, and is hard, yet flexable as to allow for heat expansion. The only trouble is making sure you clean the contact areas well and take time with application. Once you have a close fill and shape, you can do a final light application to finish like bondo, and smooth off. It is very forgiving in it taking time to setup and harden, so you are not rushed into the process. Just my two cents if not using plastix compound for repair work. |

FYI - that console is NOT PLASTIC. It's looking good Buster! Are you happy with the new fuse panel? It's a bit of a PITA to get up in there but well worth it IMO. |
