Got back to the metal work on my '70 Machine project. Taking on the driver's side floor & sill. They're in pretty bad shape.

Stripped off the inner sill to reveal the rocker structure.

Gonna work the sill & inner rocker first. Once that's done I'll repair the floor.

Steve,
It's best to have the doors on the car and car supported by the suspension when welding the cars structure. You don't want the car to be flexed in any way when you weld it up. With the doors on the car you can check the alignment as you progress.

There's a really thick channel just behind the rocker that provides the support.

The body will flex if you support the car there and let the back of the car hang off it.

The car has been stripped to the shell. It's not very heavy.

Got the rear replacement inner structure made. Just for giggles I thought I'd try reproducing the port holes. It won't be seen other than in photos but it makes me happy.

Should have it burned in this week.

Looks good. Kind of weird how it rotted up the rocker compared to the floor damage.

Kind of looks like it rotted from the inside out.
