For all you guys that have restored your front seats, how comfortable are they? The reason I ask is that I'm doing the math and it looks like it's a whole lot cheaper to buy new, modern seats that can recline. I'm not building a concourse car but one I will enjoy driving and if the seats aren't comfortable how fun is that going to be? I know there are purist out there that will say I need to use the factory seats but as I said I'm not restoring this car to go to shows and try to win trophies, just to enjoy driving.

There is no reason why you can't build a concourse car and drive it. You may opt to swap out seats for long drives, If you need to.

For me Javelin seats when still in good condition are comfy. Did a lot of 250 mile trips in my 73. My 71 had seats like your 70, and I drove it over 200 miles the day I purchased it. Did not feel any discomfort.

Though some have felt more discomfort than I. Mainly because the foam or springs break down. Then that would be a problem.

Go with what you want, when the car is made to be driven the driver dictates what it needs not the peeps looking at it.

I have a 70 AMX that I bought new. The seats are not comfortable , and never were in my opinion. I have considered changing mine out, but I usually don't drive it more than 10-15 miles at a time now.

You can use the original seats and have them rebuilt by a good shop and they should  look great and be comfy at the same time.   I will say the 70 seats were way to bouncy in my opinion.   If your intent on a change check out some of the older mustang seats.....more modern construction and probably more comfortable....
