Rebuilding 70 AMX front end. Need some advice on reinstalling the front coil springs. I have the coil springs compressor with safety latches. Do I put the tires back on before releasing the spring ?

thanks for any helping hints.

It is easier to have the wheel off, as you will find it cramped.

Though if you plan not having the wheel installed, while installing sway bar, ball joints or brakes, you can release just enough compression to place a 2x4 block under the upper control arm and frame inside the suspension hump pocket. It should keep the suspension up enough not to hinder any extra work while removing the spring compressor tool.
