not sure why my picture is so big, the shinny thing is the block you need to remove. You should be able to reach into the carrier with a 1/8 punch and drive out the roll pin

So drive the pin in and that seperates the two hats and then pull the hats out from each side? BTW
What gear lube should I put back into this? The TSM 4 pints of says AMC Twin Grip lube what ever that is. I assume I need to add friction modifier too.

Correct driving the roll pin out will separate the two pieces then they will fall out. Yes use a friction modifier and whatever weight gear oil i called for. Dont throw the hats away they are hard to find and easy to loose.

You are correct sir, the roll pin just needs to be driven into the one side di divide the hatted pins.  Gear lubes vary, look at the bottle and some will say they contain the friction modifer already.  Depends on the brand.  If it doesn't say it has it, you MUST add the modifier.

The TSM doesn't say what weight gear lube to use, any ideas? It does say for non Twin Grips to use 80#.
When I built my Z I had the LSD rebuilt by a "professional" who used Lucus gear lube that was supposed to have friction modifier in it. All was good for about a week when it started to chatter on slow turns. I put in a bottle of GM modifier problem went away.

Never mind about the weight question, I found the answer eles where in this board. http://theamcforum.com/forum/twin-grip-fluid_topic32572.html 70W90 Lucus or Mobil 1 seems to be the perfered choice. Friction modifier is optional, but at less than $7 I will probably add it.

Well after further review the hat pin was broken and I was able to get the hats out. What a relief, I really didn't want to pull the carrier. One more question...... There are axle seals at the end of the axle tubes, do I need to get those out to put in the Moser axles? Moser sent the outer seals.

I believe the axle bearings are packed with grease and need that inner seal to keep gear lube out.

Moser's bearing are sealed for sure, just want to be sure those inner seals stay.
