I'm in need of some help. The tachometer in my Javelin had a badly faded face, especially the redline marks. I happened to have a spare metal face in good shape and decided to change it. I took the cluster face off and removed the tach. I then took the face plate off, maneuvered it around the tach needle and installed the replacement face. I reassembled everything, reinstalled the cluster and made sure I had the tach wires installed correctly. The problem now is the tach reads about 800 to 1,000 RPM low. At an idle it barely moves and when you rev it up it works but is obviously way off. The needle is not touching anything and I can't see anything wrong. Any ideas what I might have done wrong?   Thanks, Jeff

I am betting the needle got tweaked when removing the old or putting on the new face plate so it probably needs to tweaked in the other direction but be careful you don't break it!

I am surpised you were able to change the tach face plate without breaking the needle, those are delicate taut wire tachs with strong magnets. Is it possible to have it recalibrated?

I'm not sure how I would tweak it, especially since I'm not sure what happened to begin with. It still works but apparently I knocked it out of calibration?
