Did the 69 AMX have shoulder belts? If so, where did they attach? Can someone be so kind as to post up a picture if they have one. I have a 69 shell with no provision for a mounting bolt so that is no help. We have a complete 69 that the owner wants the shoulder belts installed with no holes in the headliner or any other location that would make sense. I need to be as close to 100% sure of the location before I start cutting into the headliner. The TSM is of no help.

Ken.....
The shoulder belts attached in the upper sail panels....the were available in the 68's If I recall they were re positioned at some point but still mounted in the sail panel. There should be a mounting bolt there. Chuck Page |

Thanks guys.
I did find it at last. What threw me off is this car has a headliner with indents right about the same location as you might expect the shoulder belts to mount but with no holes. After digging around a bit I found the threaded locations behind the sail panels a bit lower down than I would have guessed. Saved me from having to strip things down and drill test holes to find them. |

I have 3 69s...one doesnt and the other two have different setups...
the one has big clips in the headliner to hold it when not in use... if you reallly need pixs let me know

FYI, all cars built for the US market after January 1, 1968 were required to have shoulder belts for driver and front passenger. You will see a few early '68 Javelins without and a very very few early '68 AMX's without, which were assembled prior to that date.

I've seen some AMXs with a clip on the rear upholstered kick panel with the shoulder belt hanging vertically, i believe it's a 68/69 thing. I think 70s had the wires that held the shoulder strap above the window, that may cross to late 69s. My 69 with a March build date has the clips in back. Bob tufcj |

Probably a running change in model year 69, sometime late March, April the shoulder belt holder clip location was moved up to the roof rail, 1970 style.

Both USA and Canada. Also the same date is when headrests became law in both countries. |
