Hello AMC Forums...

Does anybody know if anyone carries the two piece round seat release knobs, that goes on the rear of front seat sides, used to release the back rest to tilt it forward?

See pics...

Any info would be great.

Thx in advance.

Rich C.

I've never seen those available. Were they originally glued together? Those were only used thru mid 1968 model year. The later cars used a one piece rubber knob that was cast on the handle, you can switch to those if you want.

Thanks Steve...

It looks like they were likely glued together. They were laying on the cars rear floor (one side) so I didn't see it installed.

I'd be interested in the one piece version to replace what was there. Do you know where to get them?

Rich

You'll have to replace the entire handle with a used one, or replace both if you want to go with the rubber grip model. The rubber grip was used for half of 68 and I think all 69 so it's much more common.

If you find one with the plastic ball, the levers are the same; you can knock the bushing out and flip it to make a RH into a LH, so you don't necessarily need the same side.

Not a bad idea. I have not tried it yet.

I know someone else who frequents the Forums did.
