When I started looking for a headliner this past summer, I was told to expect a shipping cost of $350 or so from Indiana tp Pa. for a 73/74 hard shell type. The cost was so high because of the odd size and it must be shipped by ground.

For $200 I could swing one for my 70 Javelin and still get it covered but $350 on top and no way I could do that.
Now any way it could be cut in half for shipping and put back together by end user? Add a lip to the top side to line it up top/bottom and for a "gluing strip"? Once covered you would never see in from the bottom side.
BTW I have to fix mine & cover it some having a new one would help.

I was planning on making one from my good 69 and my thought was to make a mold and create out of fiberglass / gelcoat..making it two piece may be a good solution to shipping. The shell would have to be covered so it would hide the seam.
If nobody has a solution by Feb / March I will start to mess around with a test...I have other items on my list before I can get to that.

The 68-70 is slightly larger. I installed a 71-72 in my 70 and it didn't quite cover the prvious trim marks in the headliner, only one spot that isn't noticable where it came up short (1/16"). No dome light hole 68-70. If you copy 68-70 it would fit all. I think the change was a result of the different roof, don't believe rear windows are differrent. I have interchanged laying in place to cover the openning, but never installed. Taking it all the way and having material would be the best bet in my opinion, at least in the most popular colors.
Maybe make the liner foldable then use a heavy tape to cover the fold before attatching the vinyl. You could attatch it to the first 1/2 and include the tape and adheasive to finish the job when installed.

QUOTE=70 Donohue 390]
Jims (73hornut) 71 Javelin and my 70 Javelin. BIG difference! ![]() [/QUOTE] Here you can see the difference in the rear glass and roof line so thinking inside is different too? It is nice to know the 68-70 is larger so it could be trimed (pre marked on one side "cut here for 71-74") to fit the 71-74 cars.
Just tossing out what might be done

They are so close that trimming could be done in place w/a sharp utility knife, may not even need trimming. Have you ever laid one window over the other?

I have a 74 headliner in my 70 jav. the 74 has an extra dome light hole in the center and the size difference is not enough to see unless you're looking for it.

Just wanted to throw this out there.
I bought a headliner for my AMX from ADP and shipping was $65.
If they can do it, I'm sure someone else can too.
