Hi everyone, new to the forums and getting ready to start on my '66 American Rogue 232 rebuild. I want to keep it as close to stock as possible but not sure I want to rebuild the carb and am considering just buying a new Edelbrock or possibly a NOS Carter WCD if I can find one. Any suggestions on what to put in? It currently has a 2bbl Carter WCD 3888S which I'm not having any luck finding a rebuild kit for. Any tips / suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks, Tom |

You can get rebuild kits from several antique carb vendors. One such vendor is the Carburetor Shop in Canada. Do a google search. Kanters Automotive Products might also have a rebuild kit but I haven't checked their catalog lately. NOS WCDs do show up on Ebay occasionally.

I've been running a WCD on my red 64 440H for 17 years. NAPA carries the rebuild kits.

I'm pretty sure it sounds like your carb is shot with no hope. Tell you what, send it to me with all the associated parts and I'll get rid of it for you. Just to help you out. I'm a nice guy like that. I might even send you a spiffy one-barrel to replace it.

Tom,
Any NOS carb is likely to need rebuilt since the gaskets and seals will be dried out from age. Once you find your rebuild kit (try the AMC vendors as well), make sure to take the carb completely apart. Throttle shafts do wear over time and you end up with a vacuum leak from them. If they are worn, the shaft can be trued up and the throttle plate bushed to make up for the wear.
