See this thread: Yours would have had a Carter WCD, not a BBD, but IIRC the bolt pattern is the same. You could even use a non-copmuterized (pre 1980) BBD. Might have to do some modification to the control linkage. 66 would have had a mechanical linkage with rods, 68+ used a cable. Easy to convert to a cable, just need a pedal that will bolt to the firewall. You can use one from almost any vehicle...

The pattern is called "Rochester 2G" or "Small Rochester". It's not popular but carbs that bolt on do exist. But they tend to be old designs.
Frank's point about the linkage is the next hassle. |

1969 was when AMC went to the throttle cable. Not 68+.

I sent my WCD to CarburetorUSA.com and it came back looking and working like new.

The WCD is a good carb, I'd look for a replacement. It will save you hassle. A good rebuilt one will work right and fit right. |

What shape is yours in? All there? Or missing parts? If all seems to be there, does everything appear to move properly? If it's in solid shape, a good rebuild kit will do the job, and these aren't too hard to do. There are carb restorations services. It might cost $200 or so. If the carb is junk, then put WANTED ad below, and see what someone has. If you know the Carb # that helps. WCDs were used for a lot of years on many different cars. A '65 232 used a 3888s. I'm not exactly sure if the '66 is the same, but a 3888s would be a good place to start. Email if you need more help. I have an NOS '62 WCD, but the jets/settings aren't going to be quite right for a '66 232. paul.mittermaier@gmail.com |

Yeah, worn throttle shaft is more than just a rebuild kit. But don't throw that carb away! I'd contact one of the known good rebuilders and ask them. It may be repairable (drilled and rebushed).
If it costs you $100, well, new carbs will be more than that. Worst case, your old carb will be good for parts for others carbs. All OEM carbs are old now and require extra attention. "Rebuilt" carbs are basically your carb, now, cleaned and with a rebuild kit in it. It almost certainly will have a worn throttle shaft. There are no more (or few) good cores left. My favorite shop is Mike's Carburetors. I know others have more. |
