i'm looking to put a set of aftermarket wheels on a 65 rambler 660 classic. I'm thinking something like a torque thrust , or something similar. What size can I fit underneath the rambler?

I'm trying to figure out the same thing on a 69 American, I want to run an 8" wheel on the rear, but not sure if they will fit. I'm running a 7" now and I think an 8" would fit, but hate to buy them until I know for sure.

I have aftermarket 15X7 Magnum 500s under my '65 Marlin, which uses the same body from the beltline down as your Classic.. Due to the factory disc brakes, I needed to use a 1/4-inch spacer in the front to clear the outer tie-rod ends from the wheel weights, but otherwise no issues. I am also running 215-65-15 tires. I could probably squeeze a little more tire in, but haven't made the attempt yet.

I ran 15x8 with 4.5" backspacing and they fit on my 65 Classic. Try them without the tires first, because once the tires are mounted, the wheels are not returnable. I ran 15x7 on the front with 3.5" backspace but I had 5/8" thick lowering plates which effectively spaced out the wheels.

A 215 width fits well, a 225 should fit. I'm running 215s on 7" wheels. 8" wheels will be tight, but should fit. 3-3/34" backset is about it for the front. If you have a deeper wheel a spacer may be required.

An 8" with a 4.5 backspace will fit. A 215 or 225 tire works good on 18" wheels and clears trunnions and fender.

Sorry for the long delay.
Wheels:18x8  0mm Offset, 4.5 Backspace
Tires: 215x45/18..should have gone 1 size wider.
Springs have been cut unknown amount and this size fits with no rubbing and clears all suspension.
Will work on getting a link set up to post pictures.

I've considered different rims. Maybe just for a second set. I have the original hubcaps with the rambler R on them.
