Ordering a full rebuild kit just in case,   Do you have more information on the hole drilled in the servro to re-leave pressure?

Heck anyone have a better rebuild guide than the TSM with some photos?

OK Folks I have been in a holding pattern waiting for German Specialty shop http://www.fzth.de/  to get to the Rambler, well that and it took me an extra week to get towing and transportation two hours away figured out 350€ later it is in the shop.

Just got an email from them and here are a few photos, I could use some help understanding what I am seeing as they wrote to me in German and My wife (aka Translator) has not clue.

So take a look. ( I am going to assume its the rear band, they want to do a complete overhaul)

The pictures are hard to interpret, but the first one looks like facing off a clutch plate, but I've never seen one come apart like that. They usually just wear down to the backing plate like a clutch disc or brake shoe. I can't tell anything from the band photo. Those I have seen the lining come off.

I have used Googles translation feature when dealing with German old Mercedes Parts and it woks very well.

Thanks for the info on the clutch plate. Never would have thought that. I am lucky and the actual owner speaks great English. The issue is trying to find a time when we both are reachable by phone. The email was sent from a staffer so I am just in a waiting game to see what parts they are planing on buying and then I might step in and offer to buy a rebuild kit from the US depending on price.

The first picture looks more like a thrust washer that may go between the output shaft and the rear support to me.

Holger, thanks for the information, I would love to find some of his old signs and other artifacts as well.

1970390amx,  I have never taken one apart so I am going off parts break outs for now. I am sure I will get more details but it does not look like it was replaced in less than 5K miles either way.

Howdy everyone,

Well I am stuck again, after getting my German Garage to get everything put back together we ran into an issue that I need help with. The Tech stated that when they were putting the torque tube back together they found the rear seal was leaking and found a metal "seal" was bad. Please see photo, Not sure if it is a Pinion seal or ?

Please help me to identify either the part number or the actual name so I can try to get one ordered.

Also a part number for the seal would be HUGE.

The tech stated that this was located where the torque tube meets the rear axel.

Any help would be great. its bad enough this is costing me an arm and leg to get fixed but having to wait over a month to get the car back is killing me, the weather has been perfect this year!

Thanks out to Doug at APD,  it took him longer to ask kind of car I had than it did for him to have the part number found. Priority mail to the rescue, hope to get the part early next week then off to the rebuilder finish the install.

Some day when I am all grown up and have my own workshop I would love to have the chance to learn transmissions but being in another country has proven a bit difficult.
