Of course the other alternative is to drop the rear end. It's not that difficult after you get the car set up on secure tall jack stands. That's what I did on my 66 American (last year for the big nut I think and then only in cars with the 199.).

You use a couple of 1 3/4" wrenches to get that coupling nut off the driveshaft/ rear axle?

My 62 Rambler American has that same insane drive shaft setup.
