65 Ambo no a/c.Need to remove the dash black center filler panel in order to remove the instrument cluster. There are two plastic buttons securing the panel. Anybody know if they are just push in or nuts behind the panel. They will not pry out and I cannot get to the back. Someone before me tried and cracked the panel.

I take it you don't have a TSM? It would be invaluable on this type of job of not only providing the steps to perform to remove the cluster but also a picture showing the dash components and how they are attached.

There is NOTHING in the TSM about these,. They have to be released from the back. I believe they are screws. Do not try to pry from the front - you will break the panel.

Figured out the two screws. Very deceiving. Someone before me tried to fix the oil light and cracked the panel. They never did fix the oil too late light. (when the light comes on its too late ) I did get the cluster out and repaired the circuit board. Just need to reassemble.

The cars with AC are easier to take about. What we ended up doing in the Marlin (same dash) was replacing the externally showing heads with a nice black hex heads. The 66 dash panel has a pebbled appearance and I was able to repair the cracks and over spray to cover them. The 65 is shiny, so hiding the cracks will be harder I suspect.
